10cent diamond is proud to present, gus alva | paradigm+++mas. our award-winning documentary short film introducing the work of mexican american artist gus alva. the film illustrates how alva draws his driving artistic inspiration from the south-central los angeles neighborhood where he was born and raised. at first from necessity and now for ecological reasons, alva extensively uses recycled art and construction materials for his creations. without formal academic training in the arts and coming from a background of serious economic struggle, alva’s raw, emotional paintings and sculptures have defined a distinct creative voice for him to speak with in a visual language all his own.  

gus alva | paradigm+++mas has won numerous recognition in film festivals in north america and europe. most recently, our film has won the audience award for best art, architecture + design short at the 2022 newport beach film festival. we gratefully appreciate everyone who has contributed to the success of this film.

With sadness and deep respect we post this In Memoriam tribute to Steven Robert Graham. In this interview, recorded in 2012 as part of our film Eleven Years His Muse, Steven speaks candidly about his relationship with his father, sculptor Robert Graham and of Robert’s unique, long-term artistic relationship with model, Gina Clarke. Steven was a wonderful human who’s passion for life was exceeded only by his loyalty and love for his father, his family and his friends. We will be forever grateful and appreciative of knowing this generous and inspirational man. He will be greatly missed.
